THE ARTIST

Pesei were born in 1993 and discovered his passion for art at a young age, developing his skills over six years at an orphanage in Takeo Province. Guided by a dedicated teacher who became a lasting source of inspiration, he found in art both direction and comfort during a challenging childhood.

Raised in the Cambodian countryside, Pesei was deeply influenced by the rhythms and textures of rural life. After losing his parents at the age of thirteen, painting became a place of refuge—an enduring way to process, reflect, and connect with the world around him.

Today, his work celebrates the soul of local traditions and the enduring strength of village life. Each piece reflects a deep sense of memory, resilience, and hope—offering a glimpse into the stories that shape his journey. Through his art, Pesei invites those who encounter his work to slow down, feel deeply, and connect with the warmth and spirit that continue to inspire him every day.

THE EXHIBITION

This solo exhibition is a journey where memory, landscape, and emotion unfold in shifting layers of color and light.

Shaped by years of dedication to his practice, Pesei draws inspiration from the expressive legacy of Vincent van Gogh while forging a visual language that is entirely his own. Through the technique of optical mixing, he builds each image from vibrant, living fragments of color—allowing scenes to shimmer, breathe, and come alive on the surface of the canvas.

At the heart of his work lies Srok Srae—a Khmer term meaning “the countryside,” evoking not only a place, but a way of life shaped by fields, seasons, and community. More than a landscape, it is a feeling, a rhythm, a quiet pulse that continues to guide his vision. It is here, among open skies and village life, that the artist finds endless inspiration and renewal.

This exhibition invites each encounter to become a moment of stillness and wonder—where the countryside is not only seen but felt. Through Pesei’s eyes, the rural world transforms into a living poem of color, memory, and enduring spirit.
