Explorer’s Tales

Sofitel Angkor Phokeethra Lobby Bar is probably the best place for  all acoustic music afionados. The nice french colonial decor and cozy atmosphere are the perfect setting for a relaxing evening with live music, wine and tapas. Five days a week,  Diego Dimarques performs with his acoustic guitar from 6PM to 9PM.

Asana Bar

A great place to check out for amazing night life Siem Reap experience is the Asana bar, also located near Siem Reap Pub Street. Its affordable prices and quirky ambiance draws crowds of locals and expats, who love it for its old charm and the atmosphere of a  Traditional Khmer wooden house.

Laundry Bar

Even though Siem Reap Pub Street is the centre of night life Siem Reap, it’s not the only area to go for chic clubs and unique bars. Just a block away from Siem Reap Pub Street is Laundry Bar, which has been open for more than a decade. It offers a mix of electric and rock music, as well as free darts and pool.

The Republic

If you prefer tropical garden vibes, then the Republic, just short walk away from the Siem Reap Pub Street is the place to go; sit under the pergola, surrounded by lush greenery. The latino music makes a great accompaniment to the nature-inspired décor. Not just a bar, the establishment also doubles as a restaurant, serving Khmer and Western food, paired with your choice of draft beers, spirits and and most of all, tasty cocktails.

Le Malraux

For a more sophisticated night life Siem Reap experience, head over to Le Malraux, just a short walk from Siem Reap Pub Street. The quirky design of the bar, separated in two by a pathway, and its elegant French bistro décor, makes it the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of the near Pub Street

Miss Wong

Another classy drinking spot not far from Siem Reap Pub Street is the Miss Wong Cocktail Bar. With its sensual 1930s Shanghai décor, it’s known for its hand-crafted cocktails made from spirits infused with local ingredients. Lastly, on the list of places to check out on Siem Reap Pub Street area is Balthazar, a wine bar just across the river. The wide selections of Grand Crus and less-known wines makes it the perfect venue for a quiet evening of wine testing.

Night Markets

Night markets are another great way to see the vibrant Siem Reap by night. The Siem Reap Old Market, also known as Psar Chaa, is located in the heart of the city, and is probably the most well-known night market. The Siem Reap Old Market has an enormous range of textiles, household decorative items and souvenirs, along with paintings, sculptures and books on Khmer history. Built in the 1920s, the Siem Reap Old Market is the best place to find authentic Khmer goods. It’s not just a tourist attraction; locals also throng to the Siem Reap Old Market for its traditional Cambodian ornaments and carvings. This bazaar is open all day long, so you can even come check it out after your big night out.

Besides the Siem Reap Old Market, there is also the Angkor Night Market, just off Sivatha Boulevard. More than 200 stalls sell all kinds of goods, from clothing to handicrafts. Like the Siem Reap Old Market, you can find miscellaneous items and one-of-kind pieces like silk paintings, and shadow puppets. Visitors can find a massage parlour between the rows of stalls, to help refresh themselves for another round of shopping.

Another night market similar to the Siem Reap Old Market is the Made in Cambodia Market, which as the name suggests, sells only hand-crafted local goods. With the aim to celebrate local artisans, this is a worthy way to witness Siem Reap by night, as shoppers can talk with the artists who create these exclusive goods. Its location near on the Siem Reap River mean that there are plenty of restaurants and cafes to stop for a quick refresher.

Whether you’re looking for quick snacks and drinks, hopping dance clubs, classy lounges or bargains at the Siem Reap Old Market, Siem Reap by night is a remarkable experience, and one sure not to be forgotten for a while. The range of events Siem Reap offers should keep you well-entertained and full of fantastic stories to tell friends when you make it back home.
